The free-to-play version of AION draws ever closer! Starting from the 19th January the Aion client can be downloaded in preparation for the launch in February.

But the world of Atreia will be opening its doors early for a selected band of adventurers on 26th of January.  This marks the start of the closed beta, during which a lucky few can explore the lands of AION for three whole weeks. Those who sign up for the newsletter at www.aionfreetoplay.com will be automatically placed in the running to land one of the coveted beta keys.

If getting early access wasn’t enough, closed beta participants will all be assigned Veteran accounts once AION goes live. Players who were particularly active in the beta phase will be additionally rewarded with premium Gold Packet accounts. The duration of the packets will vary according to the character level reached: 10, 20 or 30.

The beta client will be available in German, English and French language versions, while game support will be in English only during the beta tests. A test version of the item shop is set to open during the beta phase for players to check out for free – as part of the move to the free-to-play model. Once the test phase has finished, all characters will be erased and the rewards earned in-game will be transferred to the players in the release version of the game.
